The San Francisco Seagulls are set to take the field again in 2011. On Saturday May 28, 2011 at Fairmont Field in Pacifica, the Seagulls will play host to the Fairfield Indians. With victories over the Oakland Expos (2009) and the California Glory (201-) the Seagulls are going for their third straight win on opening day. The Seagulls are currently hold a 4-2 franchise record on opening day.
Head coach Marc Caviglia, in his seventh year with the team, returns 14 players from a team that won 23 games in 2010 and there will be 13 new faces wearing Seagull blue this year. The schedule will consist of 45 games over 65 days with five road trips for the 2011 summer. The Seagulls will travel to Atwater, CA and Reno, NV in June to play the Atwater Aviators and Nevada Big Horns. In July, the Seagulls will spend the first three weeks on the road with a second trip to Reno to take on the Big Horns, as well as a trip to Fresno, CA to do battle against the Clovis Reds and Fresno Cardinals. Rounding out their road schedule, on July 15-17 the Gulls will take on the Palm Springs Power in Palm Springs, CA. In all, the squad will be on the road for 25 games.
