In his first career outing as a member of the San Francisco Seagulls (2-0) Branden Petrangelo (Nevada-Reno) threw 2 1-3 innings of hitless baseball as the Seagulls went on to complete the double header sweep of the Oakland Expos. Petrangelo entered the game with two runners on in the 5th inning and retired the next seven batters he faced to record the save in the Seagulls 4-3 victory.

Petrangelo paced the Seagulls on the mound, but the summer Collegiate/Semi-Pro baseball club also received solid pitching from Cory Edwards (Skyline JC) and Tucker Slagle (Dickinson State). After Irvin Huerta (City College of San Francisco) had to leave the game due to injury, Edwards entered the game with runners on the corners and one out and coaxed a 4-6-3 double play ball to get the Seagulls out of a jam. Slagle threw a scoreless frame in the third inning.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Seagulls could muster only six hits but their big blow came in the first inning when  newcomer Dustin Wold (Diablo Valley JC) lined the first pitch he saw as a Seagull down the left-field line for a home run. Later in the inning, Eric Herrera (New Mexico State) single to right field plated Peter Abrams (Stanford) to give the Seagulls a 2-0 lead.

To finish off the scoring, the Seagulls scored  solo runs in the third and fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Marc Caviglia (Hawaii-Hilo) and single by Dan Fernandez (Dickinson State).

After the Expos chipped away and cut the Seagulls lead to one run, Petrangelo took control of the game and made easy work of the Oakland ball club.

Overall the Seagulls improve to 2-0 on the young season.
